Signalling and Operation Control Systems
Modern signalling and operation control systems are indispensable to effective and safe railway operations, and are a prerequisite for further streamlining railway systems and improving their performance. In keeping with a Europe that is also growing together in the traffic sector, IFB’s Signalling and Operation Control Systems Division has always placed a strong emphasis on interoperability. Today, signalling and operation control systems are drivers of innovation in railway technology – and IFB is at the forefront of this development.
IFB offers its clients professional systems engineering for signalling systems, whether remotely or onsite in Germany, Europe, or worldwide. The experts at IFB develop specifications and are responsible for project planning and engineering. In addition, they provide project support for onboard and trackside equipment compatibility.
IFB also develops specifications, runs test procedures, and conducts validation studies for the European Train Control System (ETCS), the new common European standard for train safety and control. This is where the Institute’s extensive experience in the early research, definition, and specification phases of ETCS comes to the fore.
